Righteous Felon Craft Jerky The Panel Report · West Chester, PA

The sodium ladder, from published panels

The jerky aisle has a salt problem. Read the panel.

If you check sodium before you snack, the jerky shelf is hostile territory: the big names run 420 to 600mg per ounce. Righteous Felon O.G. Hickory reads 340, straight off the on-pack panel, with 4g sugar and whole-muscle Black Angus behind it.

  • ✓ 340mg sodium and 4g sugar per oz, on the label
  • ✓ Whole-muscle, pasture-raised, nothing artificial
  • 4.8 across 2,300+ Righteous Felon reviews

Its not rubbery or gelatinous like Oberto or Jack Links, it is real meat and doesnt have all the nasty additives you find in those brands.

Why the shelf runs salty

Salt is how jerky works; no honest brand claims otherwise. But mass-market jerky leans on heavy brines and sweeteners to cover for chopped-and-pressed meat, which is the brand's explanation for why those panels read 520 and 600. Whole-muscle cuts, smoked slow in small batches, need less help. That is the whole trick, and it is verifiable: every number above comes off a published panel, not an ad.

One more honest line: 340mg is lower than the shelf, not "low." If your doctor gave you a number, bring your own math. What we can promise is the label reads like a recipe, not a chemistry set.

The other panels, photographed

We only publish numbers we have read off the pack, so here are the panels themselves, flavor by flavor. Per 1oz serving: O.G. Hickory 340mg, Teriyaki Balboa 320mg, Maryland Monroe 400mg. A 2oz bag is two servings, so a whole bag of Hickory runs 680mg: bring that to your own daily math. Flavors we have not verified on-pack are not listed.

Teriyaki Balboa on-pack Nutrition Facts panel
Teriyaki Balboa · 320mg / oz
Lowest sodium we have read; 6g sugar from the teriyaki glaze.

Maryland Monroe · 400mg / oz
The saltiest of the three. We print it anyway: that is the deal here.

"I'm slightly picky about jerky and meat sticks as they are often a salt bomb. These are not that. I love the flavors and will definitely be buying more!"

Before you ask

Is this officially a "low sodium" jerky?

No, and nobody's jerky honestly is: salt is part of how jerky works. What the panels show is that O.G. Hickory carries 340mg per oz while the big shelf names run 420 to 600. Lower, on the label, not in the marketing.

Where do these numbers come from?

From each brand's own published nutrition panels for the named products, checked mid-July 2026. The Righteous Felon number comes straight off the on-pack panel.
